In ‘Sex and the City’, Carrie comes to Paris and her life becomes a drama itself in this romantic city. But she finds herself a happy ending at the Hotel Plaza Athénée, where she meets Mr. Big again. It truly is one’s best moment in life when walking inside the splendour hotel adorned with red geraniums. Apart from Carrie’s journey in Paris, the building witnessed another touching love story as well.
Back in 1933, Marie Magdalene Dietrich, the famous German-American actress and singer, fell in love with French actor Jean Gabin while they were staying at the hotel. In order to show his love, Jean wanted to put a dozen roses on every window of this hotel room. But out of some reasons, he replaced it with red geranium eventually, and this classic red colour has become a famous symbol of the hotel since then.
When the weather is fine, we would hang out with our friends here at the hot summers, enjoying our quiet afternoon tea or celebrating it with a glass of wine. When looking over the window, the Eiffel Tower is just right there. But when Paris is in rain, we could always get a red umbrella from the hotel to explore the city a bit. Life is such a bless.
